Art Van de Riet Fight #3 TKO Chicago

This is Arts 3rd Muay Thai fight which took place on 11-15-08 in Chicago, IL. The weight class was 180. Art weighed in at 181.5 as did his opponent. His opponent was 2-1 at the time with 2 KO/TKOs, he apparently was coming into this fight looking to even out his record

The Fight: We knew very little about the guy Art was fighting, except that he had KO/TKO power. Art worked hard on keeping his hands up, as we pretty much figured dropping his hands was the only way he could possibly be hurt. Art was wanting to come in and put a guy down with hands, and the fight pretty much went exactly to game plan. After the first exchange we knew it was a matter of time before the steamroller came out. In the first minute of the fight there was a standing 8 count, as a result of some nasty punches. From there he went on to work the clinch and put some punishment on his opponent. Starting in the second round Art was stalking. Hed pound the guy, back up, relax, then go back in. The net result was a flurry of hands that caused the ref to call the fight, then a ticket to the Flying Dutchman gun show.

The Wrap-Up: Art won the fight and we finished off the weekend 2-0 with a belt and a TKO, thats about as good as it gets for Team Vaghi. Now Art and I are going swap notes: me letting the hands go and him letting the leg kicks go crazy.
