For sutureless incisions less than 7 mm long astimatism is around 1.50 against the rule. I have been putting one stitch in all my cases since 2 years ago...this has controlled astigmatism in longer incisions...so far no expulsive hemorrhage in over 4000 cases...
Miguel, in your experience, at 2 months post-op ,what´s the amount of induced astigmatism with this technique ? And how much is induced if you suture the wound ? And what´s the incidence of expulsive hemorraghe ?
have helped several eye docs transition to sics...phaco surgeons who wanted a better manual technique when they go on missions...or eye docs who do not want to do phaco for various reasons..
what was that bleb at the end?

yes, i agree that learning how to perform SICS is a worthwhile addition to a cataract surgeon's skills armamentarium. very cost effective too

just be sure you have enough viscoelastic in the ant chamber to push down the posterior cap and float the nucleus on top of the iris...
