Call of Duty Elite -- the free service that helps gamers compete, connect, and improve -- debuts in November 2011, with a public beta taking place this summer. Many gamers will be able to join and test it out for themselves, but if you can't wait, here's a personal walkthrough of Elite from the team leaders at Beachhead -- Chacko Sonny, studio head, and Noah Heller, product director.

Please note that this video was shot about 10 days before the public beta was ready, so you are going to see some things that are incomplete even by beta standards. It's a proper look behind the curtain in that respect.

@bThAfury99 Not yet. Later in the year, probably tied into some MW3 information, and I'm expecting a lot of MW3 info at COD XP in September.

Any word if this will be working on previous COD titles? I could understand certain things not working (heat maps, events, and other more complicated concepts) but I would love to at least be able to compare the stats already given in game (like k/d ratio, time played, w/L ratio, etc.) It'd be great if we could see these stats from as far back as COD 4. It be cool to stir up some competition for the old games as well.

@starofthefuneral Not yet. It was built alongside Black Ops and MW3, so to get really deep integration, you need to make it at the same time. They are not ruling out support for older titles, because a lot of people still play them, but they are not announcing support for them.

I think if we can buy are elite subscriptions with MS points and PSN point cards that would be sick! :)
