Hi,
Will this update allow one to surf the web, access e-mail, etc. via 3G, when there is no wi-fi availability. Or, will I have to root it?
Much Thanks!

so apparently there's a new firmware 1.4.1 that makes the device pretty much unrootable...do you think there's any possiblity in the future that it could be softrooted? i was reading up on it a little, my knowledge of this kinda stuff isnt that great, but from what i could tell its going to be complex to softroot it if they figure out how to.

@apyankeefan Kindle has free 3G access to wikipedia "worldwide."

they do have 3G thru AT&T.

is the touchscreen menu still laggy in v1.3?

I saw an old video about a Trook application that can be used to find ebooks. Can this be used with the new 1.3 Nook software?

Does Nook 1.3 update made any improvement on PDF support like zoom or rotate pages?

@apyankeefan The kindle only has a cellular connection (no WiFi), so its "Experimental Browser" works anywhere, anytime.
quick question. Do you think that Barnes and Noble will ever let people use ATT 3g internet to surf the web instead of needing wifi?

@LiverpoolHajduk No, I don't think that will ever happen unless they have a paid subscription available through AT&T. I'm pretty sure the kindle doesn't have this, so I'm not sure what you're talking about...

you think thay will every have text to speech

@mybeckett74 It's a possibility. The only problem is, just like with the kindle, it sounds like a robot. If they ever come up with a TTS voice that sounds good I think it will happen.
