THE SUBS ARE BACK! GO BEHIND-THE-SCENES AND INTO THE LAGOON!
Walt Disney Imagineers are re-surfacing Walt's original fleet of eight submarines with state-of-the-art technology that immerses guests in a 3-D undersea world of Finding Nemo. See how they used recycled glass to produce vibrate ocean colors, learn how they made the subs environmentally friendly and how they took animation from Disney-Pixar's blockbuster animated film "Finding Nemo" and made it come to life underwater. The classic Disney attraction that opened in 1959 and retired in 1998 will be a multi-generational experience as parents and grandparents fondly remember the original subs, while younger guests get up close with their favorite "Finding Nemo" characters.

  • They did a wonderful job on this ride. We enjoyed it very much. I liked the fact that they kept some of the original premise of the "Submarine Voyage"... Hats off to Disneyland & their crew. Mr. Walt Disney would be proud!!! David

  • By the way, just because you disapprove of something, that does not necessarily mean that Walt would disapprove of it.

We have no idea what Walt would or would not have approved.

For all we know, he could have hated the experience that Haunted Mansion is, since the final theme of the ride was conceived after his death.

  • The anglerfish scared the crap out of me :(

    But I llooovvveee annnggllleeerrFISHIES!

  • @everythingdisney If this hasn't been answered yet, it's towards the very end of the ride when the narrator mentions the serpent and mermaids. The mermaids are also there. They are all made of rock and coral formations, and you can only see them from a certain side. I believe it is the right side.

  • ruined a classic attraction.

if WDI cared more about hiring true creative talent

and cared less about catering to the demands of "certain groups"

    this would not be happening.

    enjoy them while they last.

  • Amazing all the work that goes into a ride like this. Truly awesome. I wish I could work there to experience behind the scenes everyday!

  • @ProfCoolio I heard the reason the whale has teeth is that it pays homage to the whale from Pinnochio.

  • does anyone remember a show being on cox 3 maybe a month before the new reopening, there was a program on all about the history of the ride and promoting the new opening. i remember it talked about this one guy who never went to disneyland and still hasn't. anyway, my dvr crash a long time ago and i have been trying to find it ever since. can someone please help me? or does anyone remember the name?

  • Disney did a good job of restoring the submarines. It was a disgrace they sat there unused for 10 years and that Disney couldn't get its act together when they had so many fine educated people apply for animation jobs they couldnt do their own animation or get the ride running or coordinate.

  • i went on this ride 1 time and what scared the s*%t out of me was the mines.

  • Muh Muh Muh Muh Muh High High Muh Muh High High Muh Muh High High My heart booms at the sppeed of light!!!
