"Rent" Anthony Rapp "Without You" Exclusive Interview with AP-RED

AP-RED's Jason Drew Catches up with the Anthony Rapp at the New York Musical Theatre Fesitival (NYMF) and discusses his one-man show and book "Without You." A story of his journey and the subsequent loss of his mother during the run of one of Broadway's most successful shows, "Rent." Anthony could easily and proudly be held responsible for the voice of modern musical theater.

With his groundbreaking role as Mark Cohen in Rent, Anthony set a new standard for what has become one of the most imitated vocal styles of the theater. The quirky, modern-day affectation and attitudinal tone in his voice suddenly made Broadway cool to rock-lover audiences and generally audiences thirsty for a Broadway that was truly broad, diverse and replete with relevant meaning. With that said one could easily concur that Anthony and Rent paved the way for Spring Awakening and more recently American Idiot with many more musicals to come.
