Fourteen Canadians are buried at Churkin Russian Naval Cemetary, on the outskirts of Vladivostok, Russia. These are the fallen of the Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force, totaling 4198 troops, which left Canada for Russia in 1918-1919.

  • wots this all aboot eh?

  • I have just found out my relative is buried here. He was in the British Royal Navy and died July 1918. RIP Stoker Gilbert Britton.

One day I will visit this cemetery and pay my own respects. Thanks for posting this video. I have no doubt that his grave is in this film, somewhere!

  • @edchristie1974 Yes but why stop the Reds ? Is it to stop the spread of communism because the West is run by corporations ?

  • Ben, what do you mean by "questioning" why they were sent over? From my point of view, ultimately they were there to support the Whites against the Reds. Just wondering what you're implying.

  • Hello Dr. Isitt, great video, it’s a shame more Canadians don’t know about this unusual period of Canada’s military history. You should consider submitting this, and any other relevant videos, to the Canada’s Got Treasures collection by joining our YouTube group (/group/TresorTreasure). It would be made available on our channel and website. Help celebrate Canadian diversity!

  • I was hoping you would explain more about, like you said, why there were so many foreigners buried there, and also a bit of background on the cemetery.

  • is it there that they turned a part of the movie hunt of the red october?

  • It's one of the best places at that Cemetary.
