San Francisco Radio Show "Fernando & Greg" Names SMC Professor "Teacher of the Month"

Saint Mary's Professor Monica Fitzgerald, coordinator of the College's Liberal and Civic Studies program received the "Teacher of the Month" award from the "Fernando and Greg In the Morning," radio show on 99.7 FM. The monthly acknowledgement comes with a $500 prize for a selected educator. Fitzgerald was nominated for the award by SMC senior April Klassen.

Among many glowing tributes, in her nomination email, Klassen said "Very quickly Monica became more than a teacher, she became a mentor. Inside and out of the classroom Monica made me feel like my progress and success in the program mattered. I came to this school with one mission and that was to complete my BA in Liberal and Civic Studies and continue on to the graduate program to earn my Multiple Subjects teaching credential and if it weren't for Monica I don't believe I would be graduating in May 2012."
