  • Barney & Herb. Two geniuses. R.I.P.

  • @SkunkBunk I just won't try to play the guitar again after this

  • @OscarPetersonFan Wait... what?

  • The electric guitar of Herb Ellis is a Aria, a japanese guitar made for Herb and him endorser it . Aria make this for few years, is than a Gibson ES 175 with L5 cordal and one humbucking. Barney play a Gibson ES350 with a Charlie Christian pickup custom made for Gibson for him, the guitar year is 1946 and the pickup 1939.

  • @rbeachler I also saw Herb alone in the early eighties. My dad brought me I was about 11 or 12 i guess. I wish I ahd known more about who he was at that time. But we still ahve the record he signed for us. I agree I remember him being very cheerful and exuberant. He was watching me watch him too. we made eye contact a lot during the show. I really felt a loss when he died.

  • RIP

    from Japan

  • RIP

    from Japan

  • The Bass player is Charlie Byrd's brother Joe Byrd. I was at this show and met all the musicians. All were very polite and happy to meet the public. Charlie was very quiet, almost shy. Barney Kessel was friendly but more interested in talking to the TV people. Herb Ellis was the most outgoing and even remarked that he knew I was a guitarist because he had noticed how I was watching him. Sadly, Herb passed away last weekend. These guys truly were GREAT!

  • Hey Barney... Herb will be right next to you tonight giggin again..!!

    RIP Herb..!

    Pure Jazz Legends..!!
