Here it is, finally, the Trident Story. Sorry for the wait but we were asked not to release it until now; the whole story from launch to sinking.

In the beginning she was used to locate the USS Lagarto, a ground breaking story that culminated in an Emmy award winning film. Under Jamie Macleod, she went on to found the tech diving industry in Koh Tao, discovering dozens of amazing wrecks in the Gulf of Thailand along the way.

Jamie then chose to commit her to the deep to become Koh Tao's first purpose sunk wreck and artificial reef just south of Shark Island where she lies today, protecting the coral gardens from trawlers and providing a popular new dive site.

This rough cut, short film was filmed and put together by ACE Marine Images who have been along for the whole ride and will continue to be there with TechThailand, as Jamie continues to explore and uncover the hidden treasures of Thailand. Thanks to Oren Harel, Andy Keeler, Arul Sankar and Chris Clark.

Chad Scott did a great job putting the wheels in motion and has used this film to ensure that Koh Tao is about to get another wreck, this time a 47 meter naval ship. Onwards and upwards, great stuff.

We would like to dedicate this film to the memory of Peter Mccarthy, a great friend and undoubtedly the major driving force behind the sinking project, and therefore largely responsible for the immortalisation of the MV Trident as she makes history yet again. We will always remember you Pete.

  • shame i did some diviing off her in 2008. sorry to see her sunk.

  • Get your facts straight, as part of the environmental and safety preparations the hatches were put on specially to keep divers out of the restricted areas of the boat, but not enough air could pass through them on sinking so one blew off.

The US is the most notorious country for misguided artificial reef projects. Look up the tire project in the gulf of Mexico which caused huge environmental damage and cost more to clean-up than put down. It is the starting point when talking about poor planing

  • By the way it looks They did a POOR JOB for preping the boat !! Hatches were not removed ,& was it enviormental safe ????

She would never ban a articial reef in the U.S.
