The Vergina Sun or Star of Vergina is the name given to a Greek symbol of a stylised star or sun with sixteen rays. It was unearthed in 1977 during archaeological excavations in Vergina, Macedonia, Greece by Professor Manolis Andronikos. This video includes archaeological evidence of the same Greek Symbol coming from the rest of Greece.

The question is this, why isn't this symbol on the Greek flag? Is it because the Greeks had no respect for it until the Slavs adopted it as their own?

Silly assumption...lots of symbols that characterised Greeks through ages are not on the flag, but it doesnt mean that Greeks have no respect for them.

Following your logic you should conclude that FYROM's slavs had no respect for Alexander and the Vergina Sun because they started claiming them only during the last decades.

My impression is that the flag designers knew little about their history, not to be blamed after two thousand years of slavery and conversion by the Romans, then by the Turks, they didn’t even realize the cross they put on the flag, a symmetrical cross, is not even the Christian cross which I find very silly, do you?.
