"Dr" Gillian McKeith is a quack doctor and pseudo-scientist who's been giving health advice to millions of people for many years with no credibility whatsoever. She's been critisized by many reputable scientists, health professionals and regulatory associations but carries on regardless.

  • yes, but some people do suffer from food sensitivities and intolerances and many react to yeast with fatigue and bloating etc. so she is aware that gluten and yeast can be common food allergens and excluding them can be very beneficial to some people. I don't think you're particularly well researched on this.

  • @Blueyedblondeful Yeah, some people are allergic to things, but that's not what GMK talks about - she just states that it's flat out bad, which is wrong. I don't think she is very well researched on this. I'm guessing your a fan of hers? If so, I think you're not particularly well researched. Stop watching Morgan Spurlock films and start understanding science.

  • @peebatron10k

Her books are not bad for energy boosting and weight loss recipes and that is how far I would take her health advice. she is not a medical doctor of course and shouldn't be regarded as one. I haven't watched Spurlock's movies but if you are hinting about fast food industries then i would submit that we should all reject them as its simply processed food with little nutrient value. they shouldn't be getting our money for that shit.

  • @Blueyedblondeful Well you can't deny people choices just because you think it's unhealthy from them. I'm not a fast food fan, but i don't mind a big mac once every couple of months, it's tasty and convenient - what's wrong with that? One of the biggest problems with the health food industry is people saying we should all flat out refuse a certain option based on their own opinions, in fact that's pretty much the problem with all the world.

All food is processed, all food without exception.

  • lol well said. read bad science

  • Thank goodness for this. She also thinks vegetarianism is the pinnacle of health, that saturated fat is killing us all despite the fact that we've been eating animals for the majority of our time here. Kill me -_- Her and Dr. Oz...

  • There's yeast in the air!

  • Read Bad Science, a pure McKeith bashing fest.

  • I live in America....and if anyone heard this girl say that shit.....they would all fucking believe it. I swear Americans are so much dumber than people from the UK.

  • @Blueyedblondeful thanks for the info... makes me feel tempted to improve my diet again. i'm having low energy and the odd bit of arthritic pain. i buy organic sugar so that should help lol.

  • @Lykon7200

Pitta has gluten and yeast and a good percentage of people benefit from excluding those ingredients. An European Union study has shown that eating organic improves nutrient intake by 20%. There are 40% higher anti-oxidants and higher iron and zinc in organic products and it tastes very good. In fact, even if you don't go organic, you can buy products direct from farmers and you'll support the local economy rather than feed the fat cat execs at mcdonalds.

  • @Blueyedblondeful ok theres not much fibre in a mc d , but a reasonable amount of protien and fat, i enjoy eating a 1/4 pounder meal once or twice a month. how about a nice shish kebab (the lumps of lamb meat, with salad and pitta (no yeast) not bad really. not so sure that just because food is organic it makes it so great, i'd need to see a good deal of scientific evidence for that. a protien rich breakfast is a good start for energy levels.

  • @Lykon7200

very little nutrition and fibre in fast food. their food is a long way from organic eating so don't kid yourself. I agree that food fadism is a very bad idea also even though the fruitarians don't appear to feel ill. however, i don't want their route. Now we see McDonalds etc advancing into India and China with their vile products to hook the millions into junk eating. Take a look at the rubbish on their websites btw. Make a stand and reject them!

  • @Blueyedblondeful of course fast food has nutritional content! i cringed when i saw the film 'supersise me' the guy ate nothing but mac d burgers for one month...if you ate nothing but apples for a whole month you'd feel ill too...a little bit of what you fancy does you good imo.
