  • You know, I see a lot of folks criticizing cover versions of songs - comparing them against the original artists, etc. Frankly, imitation is the highest form of flattery... and it shows great taste on the part of the cover-er. I don't always like reinterpretations, but golly, if I could sing - I'd be making recordings of all the great songs, if only for my personal satisfaction and happiness. It's not hurting anything.

  • @Phaedragon Extremely well-said. That's one of the most intelligent things I've ever heard said about cover versions, and I agree with you 100%. In fact, since the very beginning of the music industry, cover versions of all great songs have been in abundance. I personally like to hear different versions of songs I enjoy.

  • I love this, actually - I kind of missed this phase of Susie's career. Loved her 1996 self-titled album with the two hidden cover songs... she and the Bangles always had a thing for great '60s pop and jangle -- and for those of you who DON'T know, she has 2 albums of 60s and 70s covers with Matthew Sweet on the Shout! Factory Label, called 'Under the Covers' vol. 1 and 2. Get 'em!

  • @ElDanoLectro Her versions of 60's songs are some of my favorites. I usually like them better than the originals. "Where Were You When I Needed You" with the Bangles, is another example. Also, "Hazy Shade of Winter" with the Bangles. Her "Different Drum" is also fantastic, and certainly lives up to the great original by the Stone Poneys.

  • Just for the record, I think Susanna has one of the most appealing voices of any singer from the last 30 years. She is always pleasurable to listen to.

  • @Phaedragon Well, I agree except I like covers until most folks butcher 'em. If just for fun even then I can forgive it but so many post their videos so seriously. Then I feel like "why bother" and "get a life". But for the fun and exhilaration of trying I have to admit it's great and every once in a while you find some gems.

  • Italian cover : Ambra Angiolini - Io Ho In Mente Te

  • she's on my mind

  • Anything Susanna covers, is golden.

  • This version is better than that of B mcC, I think... this is a permanent in my car... being borded by the kmsssssssssssssssss in Germany, this helps to forget about yet another 1200 kms to go..

  • 61leigh doesn't know much about this era of music if he/she thinks Crispian St. Peters had the original of this song. The original was by Canadian's Ian & Sylvia and the We Five had the hit with it. This is a good cover version!!!

  • Ok this is either a page for Susanna Hofff fans (personally never heard of her) or a page for the tone deaf...this version lacks any sentiment , feeling and passion, listen to the original by Crispian St.Peters and you will understand, as for Elvis doing covers well he could put sentiment, feeling and passion in to baa baa black sheep, just cos you can sing doesn't mean you have to

  • @rasputin63 Yup!

  • This is a goood cover by Susanna...she can do it right and she know how to do it .....this single "only love" was stronger then some of her others singles from 1991 and on the single that was released before "only love" she had another faboulus b-side called "circus girl" that is her best solo-song ever except "falling" from 1996

  • Susanna's version of this song is excellent.
