The "old money" in his family was earned. I disagree with the fortunate son scenario because it seems like just a bit of jealously manifesting itself. I think his family worked for their money, and that Rush also works for and earns what he receives.
It seems like sometimes some people in our society like to picture "rich" people as bad guys, when in fact they are working and earning.

@MsEndure2end he may have gone through hard times but his family was old money and acted as a net, he also dropped out of college, this kinda seems like a fortunate son scenario. as for success watch the documentary inside job, its got some good points about the heads of leihman, AIG, etc. were clueless about most things and just let the board do the work for them. i will say the doc is leftist leaning, but it is good to get perspective.

@patsaxon the problem with Rush is...he skips the part where really smart bankers made millions selling bull shit mortgages. yes, smart people win in the private market, but if they actually produced something good, would we be in a recession? that's the problem with guys like Rush, he looks beyond the reasons for problems.
