The series the opening was in, Black Jack 21 was a spinoff, and had an original complex plot, using ideas from some of the original manga chapters that were never used in the anime. Instead of each episode being a standalone they were all connected in some way, leading to the epic climax.

It also kept in the blood that was cut out from the other. It made it better then the other anime in my opinion
