Talks about everything from Michael Jackson to God to marijuana to North Korea. I also thought it was interesting how he mentioned he doesn't go to a western doctor and is an 'easy cry' at movies.

  • Bill Maher "isn't afraid" of Kim Jung Il's regime? Really? A dictator who lives in luxury while his citizens are starving to death, a state where listening to a foreign pop song is enough of a "crime" to get you sent to a concentration camp, a state that murders people in cold blood simply for trying to leave the country...oh yes, nothing scary at all about that.

  • I cried when Tom Hanks lost Wilson on Cast Away.

  • there are no gods only people who waste time thinking there is a god

  • dragon: I'm not religious, and I have no desire to defend religion. Especially "big" religion. I will say that IMO "small" religion (e.g. local churches, community groups) is a very good thing that has helped many people.

My only point here is that Maher has NOT made a documentary. His film is a polemical/comedy piece; he's free to make his film, but I resent anyone claiming that it's a fair and balanced look at religion.

  • lol...

  • Organizing in some respects I can say is good, that's how elections are/can be won, that's how progression is made in respect to health, criminal justice, etc. etc... But if organization in the wrong respect happens you lead to only destruction and chaos. And that's for Liberals, Conservatives, Republicans, Democrats, Socialists, Libertarians, Anarchists, Communists etc...

  • And another thing too is the sheer fact that the "organized" can be a bit of a problem in regards to any ideal or creed. Community organization can be just as bad as Religious Organizations. Both tactics were used by one such as Hitler and Stalin was against all religion and had churches turned into child care facilities where they "brainwashed" the kids to believe in the communist cause of Russia.

  • to JohnR22926, If I may respond to your post, I see you stated "he would have interviewed serious people; scholars who are as smart as he is." On that statement (after watching and owning the movie) I'll partially give you credit, But in regards to Maher's statement on here it's against "Organized" religion. Most theologians (or scholars as you'd call them) are separatists because they tend to not side with any deviation of what they believe because they always are the ones to question it.

  • lol, man in the sky

  • i'm pleased with what he said, but not going to a "western" doctor...that's a bit facetious. i don't know what harm he sees in evidence-based medicine. it's truly unusual and illogical, especially for a man who is otherwise so rational and analytical.
