This school was founded by a committee comprising of a teacher, PTA members and local representatives in 1981. Despite good intention, the committee could not run the school due to shortage of fund. In that very year, the school was handed over to the DOE. The land for the school was taken on lease for 99 years to provide education for the children of the scattered Tibetan community. Besides offering its services to the children of Shillong, it also provides educational facilities for children coming from Dimapur, Itanagar and Kohima. The school has classes from LKG to class V. There is a hostel, which has capacity to accommodate 100 boarders, built by the DOE, Dharamsala.
