One of the Los Angeles, CA, shelters, as overcrowded as it was, encountered a visit by the "owners" of this purebred cane corso, with intentions of surrendering their loyal family dog forever. This frightened helpless dog was unneutered, which was even worse, since that alone created an environment where every aggressive male or female dog staired him down as he entered the building- with raised tails, smelling his testosterone, they were all ready to challenge him to a fight "just because they could." He was the insecure frightened new kid in town.... The so-called owners were surrendering their dog because they refused to get a breeder's license - they refused to pay the money, and neutering their dog was not an option: the dog would be of no use to them if they could not breed him. Was this their only source of income? Puppy sales? Their family dog was as good as dead to them if they could not use him as a stud, so they dumped him at the shelter and went on with their shallow selfish lives. Who cares if their family dog will now be on deathrow, at risk of being euthanized ?? WE HAVE NEWS FOR THE SELFISH OWNERS WHO DUMPED THEIR DOG: SOMEONE CARED!!! Sure enough, this handsome boy had only 2 days to live when LA animal rescue networkers put the word out and "a Few Good Women" offered a very small donation to help with financial aid to cover transportation costs, and a few days of boarding. Now in safe hands, this handsome fellow is receiving daily obedience training where necessary, food, love, and care, while his humans are looking for a forever permanent loving home. If a loving home is not located, this gorgeous boy will be transported to a rescue who came forward to help him. THE VIDEO YOU ARE VIEWING IS THE FIRST MOMENTS AFTER BEING SAVED FROM THE SHELTER, IMMEDIATELY AFTER HIS NEUTER SURGERY. The dog was (mis) labelled as human and dog aggressive and would definitely have been put to sleep: Since I was a complete stranger, bringing the dog into a strange place, I decided to leave him alone in peace to eat some food after showing him his new food bowl (which I made myself at a fundraiser by Linda Blair years ago!). Surprisingly, when I got up to leave him alone, he followed me, and left his food behind, as hungry as he was: he wanted human love even more than he wanted food......Starving for attention and for someone who cares... Puma has finally left the building (of the shelter!) and will never go back!!! More info on this dog: SweetHD@aol.com
