Review of a few of the issues that have arisen with the Dahon Matrix (2007 edition) for Dahon to review. This bicycle was used for a 2x 30 minute commute to and from work in London each day, and a stress fracture appeared after a year and a half of riding the bike in fairly reasonable conditions. The bike was fitted up for touring and completed a 1,000km ride from Bangkok to Phuket (see ontheroad.charityrallies.org) successfully, though the folding mechanism on the bike now has a lot of movement in it that I would like Dahon to review and let me know how to repair.

  • I also have a problem with the lockjaw with Dahon Matrix that I purchased this summer. Dahon shows no interest in assisting or resolving the problem. Maybe I also need to make a video.

  • Thank you for posting this. I'm pushing #250 and would probably cause

a cracked stem as well. Was considering a used but will steer clear.

Bought a new 08 Matrix with the "lockjaw" hinge but returned it because the

hinge mechanism has too many little allen screws that hold the thing together

and they are too small for the pressures needed and one stripped pretty easily.

current Mariner D7. previous include older Mariner/08 Matrix/Helios/Speed8/

    SpeedPro. Also tried Montagues

  • LOL - actually, Dahon were awesome and did a full warranty replacement after the video at no cost. Very impressed with their customer service. I wasn't as big a fan of the 2009 model as 2007, but a lot of the issues were fixed. Then it got stolen. That is the price you pay for living in NYC. I've now bought the Dahon Tournado as I needed a proper touring bike, and first impressions (after a couple of months of riding it) is that it is awesome! I love it. I'll post a review at some point on it!

  • Excellent long term use review, it has positively made up my mind not to get a Dahon

  • Have Dahon responded to you, and if so have they been much help?

  • I've got the same bike and have done some milage on it. i noticed a crack in the frame, and had it replaced as Dahon have a 5 year guarantee on the frame.

also you can buy folding pedals for the bike

    hope that helps

  • Great review, very helpful thank you!
