HSP Cyclist in Denmark

First part: Alan Schmidt is a professional road racer and part of the Danish national team for handicapped road racers. He´s one of the best para tricyclists in the world and soon he´ll race in the World Championships. Alan suffers from HSP which gives spasticity of the legs and he is a wheel chair user. Today in the TV studio he tests the WC route on a simulator bike. This year the WC in road racing will take place in Denmark -- also in paracycling -- from September 8 -- 11. The Danish coach, Pernille Laursen, is very proud because paracycling is the first para WC discipline to take place in Denmark.

Second part: Alan´s handicap is not visible. Generally he leads a normal life in spite of the wheel chair. One of the challenges is that he has to use a tricycle. Training is the same for everyone -- but he cannot avoid the bumps and holes in the road and just has to hang on. He´s looking forward very much to the race.
