A traditional Irish song. The words were published by WB Yeats, though Steve Turner, the English folk singer told me that the verses are 'floaters' which were around long before Yeats put his name to them.

  • liked your trad-english folk style

you could try drop D tuning=DADGBE I think

it would go well with your chords and

voice...I think you where a bit camera

shy and that's why you rushed the tempo

    little..But that's nothing, its a folk song

after all and your not doing a karaoke

  • Sorry this is a late reply! I do sing this slower in live performance. Also, I used to play it in DADGAD, but I have forgotten that arrangement. The conventional tuning allows you to get the first inversion in the D, though I guess that would still be possible in drop D.

  • fab job. have learned this song too and is actually a difficult one to get tone, technique etc. could be a weeny bit slower, but well done.

  • Thank you. I guess I ought to take note of comments and record it a bit slower!

  • Hi, and thanks for the nice comments. I have in the past sung 'first song', and 'you well meaning brought me here', and probably one or two others, but not for years. I'm a great fan of his though, and first saw him over thirty years ago, and last time about 3 years ago.

  • Thank you. It has had attracted twice as many hits as the other songs I have put on, so it must be a popular piece.

  • Good singing and guitar. Like the way you pick the strings and not just strum. You should record the 2cd song you sang at the festival. Not sure that sally gardens needs to be slower.

  • I have to sing this song for my school choir. :D I love it

  • hey graddy!!

you really do a nice job!!

i like it from your accent to your voice:D

  • Una canço molt bonica, una veu molt maca...very beautiful song, very nice voice.

  • Very nice man!

  • Too fast in my opinion. This is a song about some great thinking about our attitude to life, about the need of reflection and inner-looking, therefore it requires slower pace.

This notwithstanding, well sung and awesome guitar playing.
