Audi connect system with Google Earth Navigation

Audi has named T-Mobile as the Wireless Carrier for their Advanced Audi Connect Systems in the U.S. which allows customers to Tap Voice-activated Google Earth (first-to-market), Obtain Real-time Traffic, Fuel Price and Weather Information, and Access Mobile Wi-Fi HotSpot.

It will be standard on the 2012 A8, with the option of switching to standard mmi after trial period. Optional on the 2012 A7 and A6

You will not be able to access wikipedia or the browser while driving..those features are only available when stationary...google earth has full voice control. The service is free for first three months, then 30/month or 300/yr

You answered your own question. AT&T wouldn't be able to deliver consistent QOS due to their overloaded network traffic. And maybe because T-Mobile is German, and much much larger in Germany. Im sure they established a relationship with the company some time ago.
