  • @aivilik, Tony hasn't had his signature tone since "Sabotage" in 1975. He basically stopped using his original SG, and started using custom made guitars. I don't know if he was still using Laneys or not, but "Technical Ecstasy" had a completely different guitar tone. Thin and tinny. I wish Laney would recreate their early-mid 70's Supergroup model. I've got a Laney AOR 100 head and 4x12 cab , and I installed a Gibson Iommi sig PU in my SG. Sounds good, but not like Tony's classic tone.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN What kind of a ridiculous statement was THAT? Of COURSE he can still get that tone. HE created it. He's probably still got the equipment that he created it with. As a musician or any professional will tell you, the goal is to get better and progress. Progress means evolving from point A to point B. Tony is just not the type to stagnate, so his sound will continue to evolve. That's just life. Only AC/DC sounds the same; and maybe too much so.

  • Tony Iommi himself can no longer come close to achieving the tone he had with Sabbath in the early-mid 70's, especially when playing live. Too bad.
