This project was made for our final installation for Spring Studio 2011. The project was based upon precedents like Jason Payne's "Purple Haze" and the inflatable movement (Ant Farm) in the 1970's.

The theory of the Helio Hut's design is based on the lifecycle of helium (which fills it). In the first stage, the inflatable is at max helium capacity and is around 15 feet in the air (held down by tethers). Second stage is when helium starts leaking out and begins to sink. In this stage, the strands of mylar touch the ground, creating an image that looks as if the mylar is holding the inflatable up. In the Final stage, the "legs" of the inflatable fold down, and allow the remaining helium to move towards the center, creating an friendly and colorful occupiable space that acts as the "hut" and involves the majority of one's stimuli.

Overall, the project was a success, thanks to all in my group, and to our instructor, Andy Lantz.
