These guys, the Framnes Folklore Ensemble together with their teacher, were in Ohrid, Macedonia this summer. I had a chance to listen to them, and they are doing a fantastic job playing traditional Macedonian music. Go to this page to see the photo gallery that I made and a video clip of one of their performed songs. The text is in Macedonian Cyrillic alphabet, but it won't stop you from seeing the photos and the video, right? ;-)
Guys, you rock!

Yes I have seen some of the different versions. Some are really nice, but it is obvious that these tunes are difficult to master for western europeans and americans... Thanks for your support!

This is not balkan music, this is BULGARIAN music!!!

Of course it is Bulgarian. Balkan is the south-eastern part of Europe where You can find Bulgaria, among other countries. From my comments about the video: "Student band playing a Gankino oro from Bulgaria coupled with Suadino oro from what used to be called Yugoslavia, probably south Serbia or Bosnia, or Macedonia. I don´t care, music doesn´t start wars. People do."
