I understand Gerry's analogy - if he is right about his particular book and the dogma of his particular sect, then he is offering something more important than a cure for cancer.

However, if out of thousands of religions on Earth, he has chosen imperfectly, or if he has angered his God in any way, or if there are no gods at all, then his time on Earth will be all that he has. And, really, none of us know.

But a cure for cancer has clear benefits (having had 6 cancers surgeries myself).

As someone who has just lost the storngest man i have ever known to that disese, I fail to see how some old book, written and re-written so many times, and its teachings which contradict themselves more than Davd Cameran can be in anyway liked to a cure for cancer. A cure for cancer would save thousands of lives, and save poorly children and babies from dieing slow and painful deaths. So please contiune to tell me how your religin is like a cure for cancer.
