  • Been to Mt Rainer southeast of Seattle. Always wanted to go to Olympic National Park but never made it. After seeing your video it is now on my near future agenda. Looked kind of cool outside. Those long hikes warm you up though. :-)

  • it is 18 miles from the nearest road, it was quite warm in the day, the night at elk lake was cold though, just at cloud level, permanent fog

  • wow, judging from the background, you're above cloud level. Very cool. One of these days i hope to travel and see England, Ireland, and Scottland.

  • about 5000 feet overlooking the blue glacier on mt Olympus. 18 miles from the nearest road. a three day hike for me. Less if you take less weight

  • @CursedLink That's understandable, and 17 miles is one way with like a 4000 foot gain in altitude. The first like 12 or so is a small gain in altitude and like the last 5 is a pretty good climb.

  • @CursedLink It was cold? I'm glad you had fun! Wow cold? It was pretty warm when I was there in September. But then again, I don't know the varying changes in climate that occur in that area. How come you didn't get to see Blue Glacier?

  • @CursedLink How was it!? I can't believe its almost been two years now since I've been there.

  • I like your comment that words, pictures or video don't do justice to the majestic beauty of the Olympic Mountains.

  • I don't think I'd have that kind of resolve to do it alone. My friend & I hiked it in Sept 2008. It's weird, it feels like just yesterday & forever ago at the same time. Did they fix the avalanche shute on the way up? We had to climb across a loose rock slide on our way up. We camped at Olympic Guard Station & then day hiked up the mountain. Heh, it wasn't long before we were dilusionally dreaming out loud about cheeseburgers & milkshakes. Forks has the best milkshakes in the world by the way!

  • very cool
