Chimera is a research project by Evelien van den Broek at the invitation of De Trampoline, a workshop for young composer. It's a duet for a singer (Evelien) and a dancer (Eva) researching the use of movement for live sound manipulation. Eyesweb software is used to capture and analyze the movements, which controlled a selection of sound manipulations used on the vocals. As a result the composition was performed real time, which gave the duo the opportunity to partly improvise as well.
Musicworkshop De Trampoline provides young composers with the opportunity to research a specific subject apart from the regular concert practice. Previous research projects were De Bereidingswijze van kerriesoep (2002) by Merlijn Twaalfhoven, Actions of Memory (2003) by Cathy van Eck and Het Zingende Oog by Mendel Hardeman.
