sorry for my bad english, but im from germany. i often see those mandelbulbs on youtube and im very interested in 3d graphics. but what exactly is a mandelbulb and how do you create it? is it a shader based effect or a bunch of polygons?

Visit Skytopia or fractalforums (and download the freeware Mandelbulb3D) to learn more about it. The method to draw these is generally raymarching, not polygons. Google Mandelbulb (and Mandelbox), there is plenty of information out there :)
