@bubblybabs I agree. People are paranoid of SIDS, but sleeping on the stomach used to be the norm, so it can't be the cause of SIDS or everyone would have died lol. I think that side sleeping is the best though. Prop the baby, thats how I was put in my crib and I'm alive :) Anyway, the cause of SIDS is unknown still, people are just guessing its stomach sleeping with no evidence to support it. ITs probably caused by multiple things. CUTE BABIES btw :)
All 4 of my kids slept on their bellies... I think a lot of SIDS babies smother b/c they can't lift their heads up enough to get their noses away from the mattress/pillow/sheets... They don't know exactly what causes SIDS & it also happens to babies who sleep on their backs... It used to be the norm for babies to sleep on their bellies - I bet as time goes on and more babies sleep on their backs the SIDS rate will go up for back sleepers...
@seasicksweetheart No, nearly every doctor in America will tell you that sleeping on their stomachs increases the risk of suffocation and SIDS. It's absolutely not the majority decision. There are nearly daily PSA's on TV about making sure babies sleep only on their backs. Nearly every doctor also strongly suggests against letting babies sleep in the bed with you for the same reasons, but people still do that anyway, too. Personally, I think it's stubborn, but to each his own.

it's to prevent the babies choking on their own vomit if they just happen to throw up whilst sleeping...
