Black Moon Theatre Company (BMTC) has achieved critical recognition in India, UK, Scotland, Czech Republic, and USA. Productions include The Bakkhai by Euripides (2001), Madman and the Nun by Witkiewitcz (Community Performance 2002), The Metamorphosis by Kafka (2002-present), Servant of Two Masters by Goldoni (Educational Outreach Program, 2001-Present), and The Trial by Kafka (2006). Our physical style of theatre coined as Expressionistic Realism is a unique performance style developed over the years by Artistic Director Rene Migliaccio. Expressionistic Realism employs gesture and body movements to express thoughts and emotions, using that physicality to push the techniques of performance to a heighten level of expression. Migliaccio has traveled the world presenting his unique performance style which fuses elements of Romanticism, Expressionism, and Realism; and involved cinema and fine arts in addition to theatre. Constantly evolving, the style has been called Brechtian visually stunning, and stark as it is beautiful. Migliaccios production of The Cenci by Antonin Artaud is on the cover of the Sixth Edition of Play directing, Analysis, Communication, and Style by Francis Hodge & Michael McLain.
