The Neptune is Tiepolo

I've listened to this video many, many times as it's my favorite voice for this poignant aria. He's also my favorite countertenor. I especially love to watch him perform with Spinosi & Marie Nicole Lemieux.

I heard Derek Lee Regan perform Alto Giove, and I could hardly tell the difference between his voice and the computerized voice. He was also an extremely nice & charming person.

@MIMIFORSAGE That is because the Farinelli audio track of Alto Giove is sung entirely by Derek Lee Regan with the exception of the final vocal ornamentation which is sung by soprano Ewe Mallas-Godlowska. I like the addition because I feel that is enhances the aria emotionally as well as musically. I never had heard anyone sing the contrasting B section and da capo A section.

Agnolo Bronzino is the artist who painted Neptune. He was the court painter of the Medici. I think this is a portrait??? of Andrea Doria???

@MIMIFORSAGE Yes, you are correct.

Just discovered this guy today. I've been a fan of the movie Farinelli for years and listening to this guy is breathtaking. I am as of this moment a HUGE fan and will be buying all of Phillipe's works.

@jxnboy007 If you have not heard them yet, do not overlook an A+ countertenor from the previous generation, Paul Esswood, who had an even warmer, richer voice, along with great Baroque musical sense and technique, and a premier countertenor today who is in his 40s, Andreas Scholl, who has a very clean, focused voice, remarkable vocal agility (hear his performance of an aria from Mozart's "Mitridate"), and good musical sense.
