Remy Eats Hakarl (Food Oddities - www.foododdities.com)

We'd say blame it on Eyjafjallajoekull if the meat hadn't been rotten even before it shipped. Okay - bear with us here. You see, this particular food oddity is MEANT to be rotten. So when a certain erupting volcano in Iceland delayed Remy's shipment of putrefied shark meat for a long time, and it arrived leaking a thick yellow liquid from a package sitting atop a long-melted ice pack, we weren't terribly worried.

Then there was the little notice, on the front of the package, in Icelandic, saying, "Best by March 2010." On a package that arrived in mid-May. Curse you, Eyjafjallajoekull!
