This is the simulation we used as base model for our Floating arm trebuchet.
The simulation itself has an efficiancy of 91%. So almost all energy is transmitted to the projectile.
The counterweights is on 40 kg (88 lb) and the projectile is on 0,5 kg (1,1 lb). the projectile is thrown around 250 m (820 ft).
one important thing to notice with this throw is that the counterweight has reached the bottom when the projectile releases (that way most of the energy is transmitted). also notice the angle of the throw. It's almost exactly 45 degrees wich is the best angle in a friction free system.
