hate to tell you.......marshall crenshaw's is the covered version. Original version is by Robert Gordon in 1981. Crenshaw did his a year later

I don't think it's horrid... but to say that it pales in comparison to Crenshaw's original is a huge understatement. Perhaps the worst thing is that they played it straight up within their modern idiom and over-produced it instead of making a version that is truly their own - that seems to be the Cardinal Sin of cover tunes for the last 20 years.

Wrong... This is WORSE than "crap" next to Crenshaw's version. Some songs just shouldn't be covered; This song is a case in point.
It takes heart to do this song justice. These idiots..? just don't have it.
