I am using Pinguy OS as my operating system. In this video I give a brief dissertation of Pinguy's default loadout in a virtual appliance.

  • Mr Spatry,

Can you tell me if KX studio with Pinguy os 11.04 64 bit ,would be stable for music recording ? Am i right in saying that you have to download and install kx studio on a linux os.?

Take care always Great Job as always .Steve :-)

PS, an idea for another video.:-)

  • @jazzey69 I have looked at KX Studio. Since they have repositories targeting Ubuntu, then YES you can run those applications. I have not installed any of the repositories as I have my (windows) multimedia software running natively under WINE.

  • Oh on a side not, pinguy seems to have been remastered with relinux not sure if you have heard of that tool but its pretty nifty

  • @Neocrypter Thanks for the tip... I will try relinux and see if I can make a live DVD of my current configuration.

  • Thanks for the reply, i haven't heard of Kazam but ill defiantly give that a look. I Looked at pinguy's website read the guys philosophy and chuckled I was going to do the same thing make a distro for my friends and family that just works out of the box, though i was going to base it on gentoo so i had a lot more control over it from the start, I'm going to give pinguy a good workout im going to install it on my kids computer and see how many problems they have adjusting.

  • @Neocrypter That is one of the nice things about Linux... You can make it your own! If you make a Live CD you can post it and I will have a look at it ;) Your kids should find Pinguy to be a lot of fun... It has the DJL came manager which will allow them to install a bunch of cool games.

  • Yeah i ran it up in a virtual machine today, i think it will work good for them other then one small Hitch, im going to have to hack around and figure out how to get the Unity engine to play nice. they Play a lot of unity based web games. What ill probably have to do i just install the windows version of chrome or Firefox for them with wine
