If you like Johnny Rivers' cover of this tune then by all means check out the Willie Dixon version (also on youtube), FANTASTIC to say the least! Willie makes Johnny sound like Pat Boone by comparison.

My "X" husband & I had a very dear friend that was a 7th son. He was also a door-gunner durung thr Viet Nam war. Hehad 6 sons of his own, never made it to the 7th. Well my X & I are exspecting our 11th grandchild in Novemver. He will be the 7th Grand-son!!! I wonder if this song could apply to grand-kids as well? Anyways, Grandma Sally here is going to make sure he is aware of it and all the other great music we have on this BLUE planet we call Earth!

@TheMustangsally75 I wish you would. it's really unacceptable. johnny rivers did infinitely more for early rock than jann wenner or rolling stone magazine. when i saw him in person he even played a lot of his own lead guitar--very, very cool with a huge voice.

Thanks for the heads up on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame issue. Does the public have ANY input on who the nomenies are? Does the PUBLIC, the ppl that actually buy all the music even have a vote? If not, it should be so!!! Think I'll give them a jingle and see what light they can shed on the subject!!!

I suppose you realize they won't let this guy into the "rock and roll hall of fame" cause jan wenner of rolling stone magazine black balls him. why? cause wenner once did an interview with phil spector in which spector used johnny rivers as an example of someone he didn't consider to be enough of an artiste. spector is now doing life for murder. wonderful reasoning, wonderful guy, jann the weiner.
