The Catskill Rural Aids Service held a ceremony for World Aids Day at the Footlights Center in Oneonta, New York. Many people participated in a candle lighting ceremony remembering friends and family who have died of AIDS.
Hank Nichols, of Cooperstown gave a talk about his son, Henry, who died of AIDS in 2000. Henry was a hemophiliac and contracted AIDS from one of hundreds of blood transfusions he received before HIV was known to be transmitted by transfusions. Henry, an Eagle Scout became an internationally know AIDS activist before he died.
