  • Interesting video, I once heard an HR manager say: "We get hired for our skills and fired for our social competencies."

The comment of Mr. Greece, about liking a candidate is a valid one. There are several great assessments on the market, that can help to clarify and articulate the gut feeling.

However, such tools should be used only as an information tool, not as a decision tool.

Great video and good to know that there are companies out there looking beyond a cv.

  • It seems like employers are spending inordinate amounts of time coming to a hiring decision. Psych evaluations are worthless time wasting expenses. Credit checks are irrelevant. Previous employers are restricted from disclosing what you need to know. So, the answer is to test drive. Give the candidate a chance after a q&A and a tour. The decisions process need not take more then 48 hours.

  • Much what you said is true for HR. They also have a tough job to fulfill. Also, it's very hard to find applicants who can be a great addition to your team, that is why you need more time to come up with the decision-making.

  • I found this clever little clip on an HR site a few weeks ago, I just had to share it. It's called The Capranos. It is a humorous look at the positive impact Certified HR Professionals can have on any organization. This is just a parody, very entertaining.

  • firing them isn't going to solve the problem though is it?

Shame we cant fire the government.

  • This is all common sense.

The one thing I enjoyed after coming out of the military, and college, was knowing my managers were going to be former World War 2 combat vets. I would have followed these guys into hell when it came to going after business.

Now we have people picking up the slack because mom has to go to soccer practice. Or someone can not come to work because they might have done too much cocaine. FIRE THEIR ASSES!

No wonder America is getting its ass kicked.

  • I am a current graduate in a HR Employment Relations Certificate from Cornell University. I am looking to get a job that will offer em the HR career job training to enhance my skills ,knowledge and work experience. Also Graduating in April 2009 with associates in Psychology with courses in Behavioral Management, Business and Human Resource Management.

  • I went for a job interview today and told the hrm what I wanted to do and things I would not do which are bothering me at my current job. He sais I am the most qualified applicant by far, but my demands were in contrast with company values. I think such decisions from bussineses hurt them more than job seekers

  • be on time, well bathed, crisp new clothes, shoes, brief case, all presentation materials in mint condidtion, new hair cut.THIS IS A HOLLYWOOD AUDITION. gracefully offer to kick back serious cash to the person tht counts on payday to win the bid and remain fire proof.
