Skijumping with a wingsuit? A great combination! And much easier than with a regular suit....

  • try that in planica

  • To my knowledge this is the first example of a successful wingsuit landing without using a parachute. Andreas makes it look easy. What will prevent much longer jumps in the future?

  • Try that in Vikersund...

  • try that in vikersund

  • @germanbillardclub so just lower the inrun as much as you can and wave your hands in the air, and you might just land on 250m (which is flat i think)

  • you will jump in the spectators then ^^

  • @lordlingcp haha good idea.

  • I think Kuttel is not the guy for that as he jumping is too much opened, Funaki would be the guy for the wingsuit as he would bring the speed over the hill more then Kuttel. Planica would make someone killed if the speed on jump table would be the same...

  • this is more slowing down than making im jump wider i guess.

  • @rayfraser1

Something called the k-point. You'll notice that even with the wingsuit he landed about where that red line was on the hill. His trajectory is ballistically linked to the hill from takeoff to landing. Varying from that even a little bit or attempting to make the jump "longer" means he's essentially jumping without a hill.

Attempting to intercept that ballistic path and then join it from freefall is what some people would like to do. I don't think they've thought it through.

  • @rayfraser1 300mph

  • What is "close to full flight"? Andreas flew much farther from his starting point on the ramp than is possible without a wingsuit. The most amazing aspect of the video to me is an apparent instinctive flapping action just before landing. I fully expect better designs maximizing a final flapping burst of human strength creating enough braking and uplift for a smooth landing at much higher wingsuit speeds. Current wingsuits are not designed to be flapped.
