El Capitan--- A March by John Philip Sousa

This is one of John Philip Sousa's best and most popular marches. Although most marches have three themes, El Capitan has four themes, and they are all great. If the third theme sounds like the song "A Spoonful Of Sugar Makes The Medicine Go Down" from Mary Poppins, that is because it was stolen wholesale from El Capitan. I wonder why they were never sued?

The matter might have been quietly settled. When all concerned are making money out of something they can quite often come to a reasonable, commercial settlement. Unfortunately, some people use the courts to vent their anger on their opponent. This is a bad reason for going to court and it can, in some cases, lead to a long drawn out affair where no-one wins.
