Not really - its a mix of RPG and strategy game. Think of your squads as you would characters in a roleplaying game and you've got a good idea of the style of gameplay. Equip them, level up, armour them, choose skills, personalise appearance & shield patterns etc.

what MrDazza222 means is that since the cost is $30 and Medieval Total is a little more expensive, but a gamer would choose Medieval since it is more action oriented...it has a big faction variety and a campaign map depth and others...in lesser words it is better to buy a game with more packages in (factions, lots of troops, action battles, SIEGES, assassinations , crusades,jihads ect) for a little higher cost , than buy a game with lesser packages in...

@FreddyCrouger666 They are completely different game types. You can't compare. One is a RPG/Strategy game the other an RTS. Only people who haven't played both would make the comparison. They've got the pricing completely wrong anyway. Bizarre and uninformed logic of the best kind :)

@SlitherineGames i know!!! But i am not saying for myself; just for the few millions out there who are unable to tell the difference....=)

and i don't know if you have add it in the game : when upgrading armor mostly is it possible to make the difference visible...for example when i have a militia and i upgrade its armor it should get a leather armor-> hard leather->leather and a little chain-mail and finish with chain-mail...if it is 20 upgrades each 5 there should be a visual difference..

@FreddyCrouger666 Every armour level has its own unique unit graphic. Every weapon & shield has its own unique graphic. You can also personalise the shield pattern and uniform colours on a per squad basis.

the one (main) thing that annoyed me about medieval 2 total war is that you couldn't play as the saxons. history channel's got alot of information about the saxon invasions and disputes, i wouldn't mind seeing a game about that.
