Damn beginner's luck. My buddy Nathan's 1st trip to my personal favorite reservoir and not only does he out fish me for biggest trout of the day but he hooks up his 1st ever Striper on a trout rig with only 4 lb test leader! The Striper hit a Nightcrawler and took about 20 minutes to get it close enough to the dock in order for me to grab it (thats when I put the camera down). Great day of fishing!

  • how long did u make the leader?

  • @LongDongSilver78 I believe it was about 2 ft or so.

  • @joro82 And what #/kind of weight. That was an awesome catch bud! I went out there 2 wks ago but only fished from the south cove to just past the marina mainly for cats; way to damn shallow and windy but that's life lol. I'll try the nothern half next time, which was kinda packed when I went.

  • @LongDongSilver78 As you can see in the video the weight was really light because we were not goin for Stripers but Rainbows. If I remember correctly he was using 1/2 an ounce of weight on a sliding rig.

  • @LongDongSilver78 About 2 feet.

  • Dang, nice one! So you were using the same bait for trout and hooked up this striper?

  • @cocoyboy We were trouting with night crawlers which we floated with a worm blower. Striper hit it after about a 5 minute soak and took off!

  • Not 15 lbs... Looks like 9 pounds....

  • @LongDongSilver78 ...fillet it up.. put it on the grill...in the oven... or frying pan.....?

  • don't reel if the reel is letting out drag, it twists the line and makes it so it will snap easier. Nice fish.

  • Stop reeling when it makes that sound..

  • @joro82 Ever catch any cats out there? How'd you cook that striper btw?

  • the record there is 45 lbs but nice fish
