How do you land on a lake with a wheeled airplane? Watch this video and you'll see. I believe this is the only FAA sanctioned frozen lake airport in the lower 48 States. Alton Bay Seaplane base (B18), Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. When the weather cooperates, it's only open for a couple of weeks. It's a great asset for the town's tourism. Alton Bay has a Winter Carnival in February, which I hear is fun and goofy. The airport helps bring in tourists to the carnival, local restaurants and shops. • Flew in there today from KSDC, great day trip. You wouldn't have wanted to land that long today though, pretty slick, you would've maybe stopped by the time you got to the diner! :)
