  • In Native American culture the jingle dress is used for healing. For every jingle you have to turn you you make a prayer with it so that when you are dancing it sort of sheds the prayer on those who need it. Jingle dress dancers are for healing the sick and helping whoever needs it. It truly is beautiful. This summer Im starting to make my own!

  • Well traditionally in the old Ojibwe style the Jingle dress was performed bare-legged. The women didn't wear any leggings. Granted that is no excuse here because this is contemporary style Jingle not Tradiional. However despite a dancers' best intentions sometimes it happens. If I had a dime for every flash of leg I've seen in a Fancy Shawl dance I'd be rich. But really it's all in choosing the correct length when making the regalia and being aware of how the dress will move as you dance.

  • @arbonac Check out Fancy Shawl, Fancy Bustle and Mens Traditional if you want more movement. The Jingle Dress style was originally an Ojibway healing dance, and was performed strictly for ritual. Only in the past thirty years has it become popular in mainstream Native dance.

  • My mom says i should do that and i sooooooooooooo want to

  • after i watched this video Arts and Dances of Oceania and Native North America: Illustrated Talks and Performances, my insight is very open because the video is very good to give information

  • @arbonac um this is how we dance! im sioux and cherokee indian. our dances are mostly foot work! and guess what hiphop culture uses these foot movements in their dances 2day! so u have us to thank for foot movement

  • It looks just like the River Dance with flashier costumes. Come on now native peoples of the world. Lets get some more hand movements and some hip gyrations. So far, the native dancers of Rajasthan have everyone beat.

  • Dont kno wat er'one else hurr is sayin., but Im just gonna say I like tha one in tha red tha best...she was on beat nd er'thang...tha otha ones good too but not as good as her. Thts all Ima say.

  • @princesspeace2597It was a sick little girl not an elder. Also I was just saying where it came from and when. Not it's meaning. I never heard the 365 thing. But if that's your tradition that's cool too. Ahaw

  • @kellylufkins Not stupid, when they lift their fans it during a 'honor beat". During honor beats u lift the fan to the sky in honor, of the elders, fallen soldiers, troops, and loved ones that have passed on. Hope i helped u.

    Chukma yakoke` (thanks alot)
