Replacing Kohler Mix Kit Cartridge in a Bathtub/shower faucet. If you have trouble with no hot, or only hot/only cold try replacing just the pressure balance unit. (In this case it is Kohler Pressure Balancing Unit GP500520.)

  • I replaced mine a year ago because the hot water and pressure dropped in my shower. This fixed it. I've heard that kohler will warranty these for life and swap them out free, though I can't confirm this. Our shower has started to act up again with the hot water being sporadic in temperature and going down after a few minutes even when the rest of the house is fine. So I think it's broken again after a year, which is ridiculous.

  • @emerickscott Great point that "kohler will warranty these for life and swap them out free." @JMeBo noted getting four shipped to him free by Kohler, so definitely worth calling them first.

  • what did you use to pull the cartridge out of the housing. Mine is stuck and will not budge by hand

  • @Gymnast101XD No special tools to take pieces out. Just used hands and fingers.

  • Hello i have a problem with the bathtub water and handsink ...that water only flowing on the bathtub and not handsink what do i need to do to get the water pressure going back to the handsink thanks

  • @zero00tolerance Hope you got this taken care of. Not sure what is happening but perhaps give more info and someone else will have input.

  • @vibrantjourney Hey thanks yes i got it settled 2 months ago. Turned out it was all the sediments that got stuck in the nozzle. When i shut the water off and turned it back on all these sediments came out thats why. thanks again.

  • @dabomb67 Yes, @JMeBo gave all good advice. Sometimes parts are covered as also mentioned in the @emericscott post.

  • @remusjacobs It can all be intimidating. Hopefully you took it on and succeeded.

  • @Gymnast101XD Yeah he did everything step by step but remove the cartridge which is what I wanted to see , mine is stuck too
