This video shows the laryngeal movements in functional aphonia. In this condition, there is failure of true vocal folds adduction during phonation in the absence of any structural or neurological lesions. It causes breathy voice and at its extreme the patient can becomes voiceless. Cough reflex can still be normal. Background psychological elements need to be elucidated and treated accordingly.
