Amazing last lap crash during the 2010 Indy 500. Mike Conway is launched into the fence and his car is disintegrated. He is later transported by helicopter to a local hospital after injuries to his leg.

  • Mike Conway got so lucky because if he hitted the catchfence with the cockpit, he would have passed away. Fortunately, the car got airbourne but hit the other way

  • The other dude was lucky not to take an engine to the face

  • extracating...?

  • look liked carl edwards flip back in 09, the car underneath is lucky he didnt get hit with a part or something

  • ¡Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!

  • @GeorgusLol That way, the car absorbs almost all the energy coming from the impact and disperses it instead of absorbing it all, which is the most dangerous thing in car crashes... the fact is the more the care breaks, the better the safety cage will protect the driver, since all those parts fliying mean that energy is being absorbed and thus the driver is not absorbing it himself.

  • @GeorgusLol Well, the cars are not made of paper... the real thing ir they are built with different materials, and though they are strong, the idea is that the car MUST break this way to save the driver. If you see, the very "cockpit" is in one piece and that's the full story: to let the car break while the cockpit stays like a safety capsule protecting the driver... otherwise he would crash with the car itself and that could kill him instead of having "not so bad" injuries.

  • What a lucky boy. He could've lost that leg. he recovered well tho. got a ride for 2011

  • walk it off

  • @jjzbuddy yeah he broke it.
