Clinician Doug Doppler demonstrates the Dark Terror by Orange Amps, our highest gain Terror head to date. Perfect for modern rock and metal, but capable of a variety of tones with the twist of just 3 knobs: Volume, Shape, and Gain.

7/15 Watts, Tube-powered FX loop, (1) 16 Ohm and (2) 8 Ohm outputs
Tubes/Valves: (3) EL84 Power, (2) 12AX7 Pre-Amp, (1) 12AT7 FX Loop

  • he really should have used that s7420 more

  • Has anyone mentioned that the two guitar mics seem to be out of phase. The vocal narration is in phase, though.

  • Wow. You actually managed to make this amp sound bad. For something relatively professionally record this sounds terrible. All of the tones produced in this video sound very thin which is completely opposite of that Orange/British guitar sound.

  • @DougDoppler video of it soon?

  • @ARom16 Hey! You might want to check out the new Jim Root Terror when it comes out (soon). Takes the preamp section of the Rockerverb and marries it to the Terror footrpint. Cheers ~ Doug...

  • @bunnyadrian Hey! So it turns out that one of the SM57s I used is in fact wired out of phase. When compacted to mono, the guitar mix collapses which frustrates me as much as anyone here. If you search "Orange Amps Dark Terror - Audio Remix" you'll find the updated version. My apologies that I didn't catch this. Sincerely ~ Doug...

  • I don't see how they can market this to metal players. Every time he palm-mutes a chord, it screams "I'm an EL84 based amp!"......what should be a percussive "chug" gets compressed in to more like a "shrug". With an EL34 output section you at least have the option of swapping in KT77's, with EL84's you get what you get. I love EL84 amps for about 75% of MY STUFF, but the remaining 25% (high-gain, palm-muted rhythm guitar) I have to have a G12T-75 and something with 6L6's or KT88/77/99-etc.

  • @sm34g just make sure the ohms match up.. that's it.. the 4x12 will have more low end for sure, especially if you have V30's in it. just remember whoever did the sound made it sound amazing to market it and some of your tone is in your how you play

  • Hi, I'm Doug Doppler and I was trolled majorly in a previous video... Slowly

  • Can you use this amp with a 4x12 cab and will it sound better than the smaller cabs? BTW i have celestions..Thanks!!

  • @ bunnyadrian - did not mix in mono, lol. It does sound out of phase..
