This is not really a cover of the original song but rather a new composition by Mark Andersen based on the musical theme "Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield. In this piece, Mark makes use of harp, bell tree, percussion, handbells, and orchestral chimes (tubular bells) in a mystic setting that is both haunting and alluring. Harp is not often found in the "rock" medium of music but here, it provides both melody and rhythm while the bell tree drives the piece forward and the orchestral chimes take front row.
Lynn Andersen - Orchestral Chimes, Mark Andersen - Harp, Brandon Victor - Bell Tree, and Erick Bryant - Percussion.

  • What church was this recorded in? When? And where did you get those orchestral chimes? They sound marvelous!

  • @jamalshookup It was recorded at Daniels Recital Hall in downtown Seattle, and the orchestral chimes are made by Deagan.

  • I have never seen a harp played behind a wooden barrier before ! Great architecture.

  • What church was this recorded in?

  • As they say on Youtube and other website, OMG. This is amazing. As a teenage boy, I was entranced by the original back in the early 70s (and totally infatuated with Mike Oldfield) ... great to hear this - and see it too. I hope Mike Oldfield has witnessed this fantastic rendering of his composition too.

  • It was totally fun doing this piece!
